Denial of existence of Palestinians
The denial of the existence of the Palestinian people has a long history. It seems to have its origin in the phrase, “A land without a people for a people without a land,” which was coined in the early 19th century and later popularized by Israel Zangwill (before he recanted). Equally famous is Golda Meir’s declaration in 1969: “There was no such thing as Palestinians. When was there an independent Palestinian people with a Palestinian state?” Similar statements have been made by others. Just last year, Israeli Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich said, “There is no such thing as a Palestinian nation. There is no Palestinian history. There is no Palestinian language.” Other arguments, largely based on nomenclature, are made from time to time. I don’t think anyone takes them seriously - with the exception of Zionists, of course. - from Quora, 28.07.24
